Movie Review - Cinderella Man

Cinderella Man, staring Russell Crowe & Renee Zellweger is a fantastic story inspired by the life story of Jim Braddock. Braddock was a promising light-heavyweight contender who was basically forced into retirement after a string of losses. To make matters worse, the losses coincided with the great depression forcing him to do whatever it took to provide for his family.
As far as synopsis' go, that's all I'm going to give you because I personally hate reading movie reviews and basically finding out about the whole movie!

I must admit I went to this movie with a bit of skepticism simply because of the number of "inspired by a true story" type of movies there are out there now. I mean, how long is it before we see a movie about "The Chicken Who Crossed The Road" - inspired by true events! My skepticism however was quickly met with enjoyment as I watched director Ron Howard unveil a story dealing with the three phases of life - Dream, Struggle, Victory.

Howard seems to have a way of pulling at your heartstrings at all the right times, but never quite going over the edge where it becomes ridiculously sentimental. The scenes in the ring are incredible, and with Russell Crowe's acting don't be surprised to find yourself cheering for Braddock out loud in the theatre!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it!

Happy July 4th!

First off, Happy July 4th to all my American friends (and a belated Happy 1st to all my Canadian friends!

Well, I had a wonderful drug filled day today.... I got to go to the dentist! Because I have not quite learned how to break through my fear barrier when it's comes to that wonderful place I go to a dentist office that very nicely puts me to sleep while all the work is done. :)

So today (and as I write this) I am still in a very happy place! Actually if you see a bunch of sdljflllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, it probably means I have fallen asleep at the computer and my head is resting on the keyboard! haha

Anyway - I wanted to send a big thank you out to my Dad (otherwise known as Mr. Incredible) for once again taking his entire day to get me down to the dentist office and then drive me back home. Even though I know it's not as tough for him to do that since he doesn't have a boss anymore, I appreciate him giving up his usual morning of drinking a coffee on the porch, taking the dog for a walk, and doing some gardening. Instead today he got to fight Toronto traffic and smell the wonderful aroma of a dentist's office. I really appreciated it!!

Well, I think that's it for me for now - tomorrow I'm hoping to do a movie review of a GREAT movie that we saw a while back "Cinderella Man")
